What amount do I start with?

First of all I would like to thank the editors of forex-info for all the interesting information.

I have been experimenting with the demo for months, have done analysis myself – it wasn't too bad. Next month I might actually try signals or EA.

But I'm not sure whether or not I'm ready for a live account.

What is a good amount to begin with?

With some brokers you can open an account starting with as little as 100 Euros? What do you think?

Our answer:

Open an account with 100 Euros? No way!

An account with less than 3,000 Euros is very likely to be destroyed very quickly. Unfortunately, that's the way it is. In spite of money management and all the wonderful promises made by brokers.

You need some leeway in order to limit the risk, as you cannot open a position with the entire capital on your account.

The amount you are permitted to use in order to open a position is calculated by subtracting your stop-loss from the current value of the currency and should not be more than 1-3% of your capital.

In any case, no more than you are willing to lose.

Don't forget this applies to all positions opened.
